Beyond beaches — because you will get bored lying on pebbles eventually, no matter how blue the water is.

1. Drive the west coast road — Argostoli to Fiskardo via Myrtos, Assos, and the mountain villages. Three hours if you don't stop, a full day if you do. You will stop.
2. Visit Melissani and Drogarati caves — Both near Sami, twenty minutes apart. Underground lake and stalactite cave. Different experiences, both worth it.
3. Hike to Assos fortress — The Venetian castle above the village. Thirty minutes up, stunning views, almost nobody does it. Free.
4. Taste Robola wine — At the cooperative in Omala valley. Free tasting, beautiful setting. The wine is distinctive — mineral and dry. Not for everyone, but you should try it.
5. Take the Argostoli-Lixouri ferry — A short crossing with great views. Lixouri is quieter, has good restaurants, and Ksi beach is nearby.
6. Snorkel at Foki beach — Near Fiskardo. The water clarity is exceptional. Bring your own gear — no rental here.
7. Walk around Argostoli market — Saturday mornings in summer. Local produce, honey, olive oil. The fruit is better than anything in the supermarkets.
8. Eat at a village taverna — Not a resort restaurant, a proper village place. Meat pie, local sausage, stewed goat. Ask where the locals go.
9. Watch the turtles at Argostoli harbour — Loggerhead sea turtles come into the harbour, especially near the fish market. Dawn is the best time.
10. Do nothing in a quiet cove — Find a small beach, bring a book, swim when it gets hot. This is actually the point of being here.
