Omala
Omala
The heart of Kefalonia's religious tradition beats in Omala, since there you can find the Monastery of Saint Gerasimos, the island's protector saint , and is a place of pilgrimage for thousands of believers from all over Greece. The area is also known for one more reason. It is the place where famous robola, the local wine of Kefalonia is produced from a variety of vineyards cultivated there, and every year in August a celebration dedicated to robola is organized at the central square of Fragata village, with local dances, food and of course lots of free robola wine.
