Destination Kefalonia

One of the rare geological phenomena of Kefalonia is found close to Haliotata village of Sami. In the interior of the cave stalactites and stalagmites have been created thousands of years ago forming various shapes. It has been discovered 300 years ago when due to strong earthquakes a part of the roof went down bringing to light part of the cave that today is its entrance, while it is thought that there is a part of it that has not yet been discovered.
The big room of approximately 900 sq.m. has great acoustics and for that many events like concerts e.t.c. are organized there and the famous soprano Maria Kallas once expressed her will to make a concert in this room.
The cave is open to the public and has personnel always willing to guide the visitors.
