Destination Kefalonia

In Pastra village there is a temple where every year a strange phainomenon takes place. Lilies collected on March 25th and placed in a special case in front of the icon of Virgin Mary, blossom again after a period that they have been dried out. This phenomenon even though it has been scientifically explained, is considered to be a miracle and attracts many pilgrims basically on August 14th, day on which the dormition of Virgin Mary is celebrated.
The name “Gravaliotissa” comes from the area Gravala, on which the temple is found, and there used to be an ancient monastery dedicated to Virgin Mary.
